Steamboat Arabia

The Steamboat Arabia sank without warning near Kansas City in September, 1856. The passengers were rescued, but over 200 tons of precious frontier supplies were lost. The steamboat's excavation in 1988-89 uncovered bottled foods, dishware, clothing, guns and tools. This discovery of pre-civil war artifacts is the largest of its kind in the world.
