The cornerstone for the Thomas County courthouse in Colby, Kansas was laid on November 17, 1906. In 1976, the Romanesque Revival building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In front of the courthouse is the statue, "Spirit of the Prairie," dedicated in 1985, and also a war memorial.
